This has got to be up there as one of the craziest mile long races in the book. A lung-busting grind up through the heather followed by a kamikaze descent down a combination of scree, gravel, mud, rock and grass. Considering the number of races on offer this weekend, it was quite a good turnout, with many runners having competed the day before
The weather held off for another great race, where BOFRA champion Alastair Dunn showed he was king of challenging and technical descents to claim the title once again. However, it was not an easy ride as Alastair fought off Sam Watdog Watson on a high from his victory at Sedbergh into second and Mark Goldie McGoldrick who is on top form into third.
Next 3 places went to our new wave of challengers in the form of the Under 23's. Alex Brown has really stepped up a gear since joining the seniors and finished just a few seconds ahead of Jack Smith and James Craig. First MV40 was Colin Moses in 8th and first MV50 was Billy Procter in 18th.
In the ladies race, Lucy Needham (nee Griffiths) put in a strong performance to finish in first place, twenty seconds ahead of Emma Flannagan in second and Judith Marshall in third. First lady V40 was Sue Narey who earned her points by 7 seconds after a close battle with Jean Powell. With some talented new lady members this season, the competition in their championship looks promising.
